About the role
The Senior Planning & Cost Control Engineer at NoVi Designs & Finishing will lead cost estimation, budgeting, and schedule control for interior design, fit‑out, MEP, and turnkey projects across residential, commercial and hospitality sectors, reporting directly to Ahmed Mohsen.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed cost budgets and cash‑flow forecasts for multi‑disciplinary interior fit‑out and construction projects.
- Prepare accurate BOQs, quantity take‑offs and cost estimates for architectural, MEP, and finishing works using industry software (e.g., CostX, Primavera P6).
- Monitor project progress against schedule and budget, issuing variance reports and corrective action plans to senior management.
- Coordinate with design, procurement, and site teams to validate scope changes, assess cost impact and update cost baselines.
- Conduct value engineering studies and risk analyses to optimise material selection and construction methods while maintaining design intent.
- Lead monthly cost review meetings with project managers, clients and consultants, ensuring transparent communication of financial performance.
- Maintain a centralized cost database and ensure compliance with company costing standards and Egyptian construction regulations.
- Mentor junior cost engineers and support the Cost Control Department in continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field; PMP or Cost Engineering certification (e.g., CCE, ICE) preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in cost engineering, planning or quantity surveying within interior fit‑out, MEP and turnkey contracting projects.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, CostX/WinQS and advanced Excel for cost modeling and schedule analysis.
- Strong understanding of Egyptian construction codes, procurement processes and material pricing for interior finishes and MEP systems.
- Demonstrated ability to produce accurate cost estimates for high‑end residential, commercial and hospitality interiors.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with fluency in English and Arabic.
- Experience in value engineering, risk management and change order administration in a fast‑paced design‑build environment.
- Ability to work onsite in Cairo, liaise with multidisciplinary teams and meet tight project deadlines.
How success is measured
- Cost variance: keep project cost deviation within +/- 3% of approved budget.
- Schedule adherence: achieve >95% of critical milestones on time as per Primavera baseline.
- Change order impact: limit cost impact of approved change orders to <5% of total project value.
- Estimate accuracy: maintain pre‑construction estimate deviation within +/- 2% after project close‑out.
- Value engineering savings: deliver minimum 4% cost reduction on material/finishing selections without compromising design quality.
