The Garden Pavilion Clubhouse
A clubhouse broken into light garden pavilions, linked by a shaded walk so residents move between them through the landscape.
The concept brief
Design narrative
A concept for a 1,200 m² residents' clubhouse in a New Cairo compound.
A compound clubhouse is usually one large building beside the pool. This concept breaks it into a family of smaller pavilions set around a central lawn: a lounge and café pavilion, a fitness pavilion, a children's pavilion and a multi-purpose hall. Each is scaled like a garden room, with sand-rendered walls, full-height glazing and a deep timber lattice roof on slender bronze-finished columns, so the clubhouse sits within the landscape rather than in front of it.
A continuous shaded walk — a pergola of the same timber lattice — ties the pavilions together, so residents move between them in filtered light and pass the lawn, a planted water rill and shaded seating along the way. Parents can watch children from the café terrace, and the lawn works as an open-air room for community gatherings in the cooler evenings. The lattice roofs extend beyond the glass to shade the façades and let warm air escape above.
