The Travertine Courtyard
A family villa organised around one shaded travertine courtyard — every main room opens onto it, so the garden becomes the heart of the house.

Design narrative
A concept for a 450 m² family villa in a New Cairo compound.
Compound villas in New Cairo usually face the street and turn their back to the garden. This concept reverses the plan: the house wraps around a central courtyard with a shallow reflecting pool and a single olive tree, and the living, dining and family rooms all open onto it through full-height glazing set deep behind travertine piers.
The deep reveals do the climate work: they shade the glass through the summer afternoon and let low winter sun reach the floor. Inside, one material family — honed travertine, fluted walnut and brushed bronze — runs from the entrance to the bedrooms, so the villa reads as one calm piece rather than a sequence of decorated rooms.
