A family villa that steps down its plot in three garden terraces, so every level of the house has an outdoor room of its own.

Design narrative
A concept for a 520 m² family villa with stepped garden terraces in a Sheikh Zayed compound.
Most compound villas in Sheikh Zayed sit on one flat pad, with the garden left as a strip around the edge. This concept makes the garden the plan. The ground is shaped into three broad terraces held by low travertine walls: a paved dining terrace off the kitchen, a lawn and pool terrace one level down, and a lower terrace of olive, rosemary and native grasses at the far edge of the plot.
The house follows the same steps. Living spaces sit half a level above the pool, so views run over the planting rather than into it, and each terrace is shaded by a deep walnut-lined pergola or a cantilevered slab. Inside, travertine floors continue through the glazing to the paving outside, and a single stair of stone and walnut ties the three levels together, making the walk from bedroom to garden part of everyday life.
