Lina Farm — Workers Accommodation

The brief

Lina Farm in Minya needed housing for its workers: one main staff accommodation building and two gate buildings. NoVi is the general contractor, responsible for the building construction, the interior finishing and MEP integration, as well as the gate buildings. The project is under construction.

The challenge

Staff housing is lived in every day and by many people at once. It has to be durable, easy to maintain and comfortable in a hot climate, with building services that simply work — power, water, drainage and ventilation. Where accommodation is built on an operating site, the works have to be organised around daily activity, and gate buildings that control access have to be ready alongside the accommodation.

Our approach

As general contractor, NoVi carries the building from structure to interior finishing under one contract. MEP integration is planned with the construction rather than added afterwards, so services are routed and coordinated before the finishes close them in, and the interior finishing follows the same programme. The two gate buildings are part of the same scope, so the accommodation and its access points are built by one team.

For the client this means a single point of responsibility for the whole project, from the structure of each building to the services and finishes inside it.
