Sea Breeze Arrival Pavilion
A resort arrival designed as a shaded pavilion rather than a sealed lobby — guests step from the car into shade, moving air and a first view of the sea.

Design narrative
A concept for the arrival pavilion and lobby lounge of a beach resort on the UAE coast.
The arrival sets the tone for a resort stay. Instead of a closed, air-conditioned lobby, this concept proposes a broad pavilion: a deep timber roof on slender stone-clad columns, open on the seaward side and screened on the others. Guests pass from the drop-off under a long canopy into shade, and the first thing they see is the horizon, framed between the columns across a still reflecting pool.
The pavilion is oriented to catch the prevailing breeze off the water, and its high roof lets warm air rise and escape through a continuous clerestory. Check-in happens at low tables rather than a counter, and a glazed, conditioned lounge sits within the pavilion for the hottest months — a room inside a shaded room — so the open terrace and the enclosed lounge work together through the year.
Materials are chosen for salt air and bare feet: sand-coloured limestone, oiled teak, woven rattan screens, linen, and bronze fittings selected to darken gently over time. Palms and coastal grasses soften the edges, and at night the underside of the roof is washed in warm light so that the pavilion reads from the approach road as a lantern on the shore.
