Dune Light Pavilion
A family villa in Riyadh sheltered under one broad, floating roof, with sand-coloured walls and light filtered the way it falls across a dune.

Design narrative
A concept for a 650 m² family villa in a Riyadh neighbourhood.
Riyadh's climate asks for shade first. This concept places the whole villa beneath a single broad roof plate that overhangs by several metres to the south and west, carried on slender bronze-clad columns. Under it, the house is a set of sand-coloured volumes — guest majlis, family living, dining and a private bedroom wing — separated by shaded outdoor rooms where air can move and the family can sit outside for much of the year.
Over the outdoor rooms the roof is perforated with small openings that throw moving points of light onto walls and floors, echoing the texture of wind on sand. Inside, the palette stays close to the desert: warm travertine, textured clay plaster, walnut joinery and soft wool. The guest majlis and dining sit at the front with their own entrance, while the family rooms turn toward a private garden court behind.
