The Stone Plinth Boutique
A fashion boutique composed like a gallery: a deep stone portal, a landscape of travertine plinths and garments hung from slim bronze rails.
The concept brief
Design narrative
A concept for a 180 m² fashion boutique in a Cairo mall.
Mall corridors are loud with light and signage, and this concept answers with restraint. The shopfront is a single deep portal in honed travertine, framing one low plinth and one garment, so the boutique reads from a distance as a quiet opening rather than another bright window. Inside, the floor is a calm field of pale oak, and the walls and ceiling are finished in warm lime plaster with no visible fixtures to distract from the clothes.
Merchandise is arranged on a landscape of monolithic travertine plinths at three heights — low for shoes and bags, table height for folded pieces, and a taller block for a single hero garment. Brushed-bronze rails hang from the ceiling on slender rods, so clothes appear to float and the floor stays open. Fitting rooms sit behind a curved plaster wall with raw-silk curtains and soft, flattering light, placed at the back to draw guests through the whole space.
