Villette Residence

The brief

Villette Residence is a 300 m² home in New Cairo with a neo-classic modern character. NoVi's commission covers its design and its finishing, reaching from the exterior to the furniture: interior and exterior finishing, joinery, lighting, the kitchen, the bathrooms and the furnishing of the house. It brings the finishes, the built-in elements and the loose furniture of the home under one scope.

The challenge

Neo-classic modern sits between two vocabularies: classical proportion and detail on one side, clean lines and contemporary comfort on the other. The balance is easily lost when finishes, joinery, lighting and furniture come from different hands. Kitchens and bathrooms add their own demands, since they concentrate services, moisture and daily wear into the most intensively used rooms of a home.

Our approach

With finishing, joinery, lighting, kitchen, bathrooms and furnishing in one scope, these elements can be coordinated as a single interior rather than a sequence of separate trades. Joinery and lighting can be set out together, kitchen and bathroom fittings planned with the finishes around them, and furnishing coordinated with the architecture it will sit in.

Extending the same scope to the exterior finishing means the residence can be treated as one composition, inside and out, and that the neo-classic modern language can carry consistently from the exterior surfaces into the rooms, the joinery, the lighting and the furniture of the home.
